Matter Matters

From Thomas Lifson at The American Thinker comes this eye-opening piece:

Parents Of Slain Pizza Hut Robber Angry That Victim Used A Gun Against Him

As a parent myself, I can't imagine a greater nightmare than losing a child, but these parents have to understand that their loss was the direct result of very bad judgement on their son's part.

To quote Mr. Lifson, "I may be an extremist, but it seems to me that if one decides to commit a crime, the victims should have more rights than the perpetrator, especially the right to defend themselves from the presumption of violence that accompanies a robbery, home invasion, or other property crime."

I agree.

I live in California and believe me if you come into my home (home invasion) you'll not do well. We are old and it doesn't take much for us to feel our lives are being threatened.

There are too many people out there that aren't raising their kids to respect others and others property. These two are perfect examples of that.

Have a fabulous day. ♥

People shouldn't have to be victims. They should be able to defend themselves. I'm sure that the thief wouldn't want to be hacked to death by the tomahawk I keep by my desk either. It doesn't have to be a firearm. The parents of the thief will miss their son, but he rolled the dice and won the Darwin Award.

If there were more guns in the hands of potential victims there would be fewer victims. Do I sound crazed? OK

Sandee: Sounds like crime is the new entitlement. Can't a black man steal?

LL: You're right about our right to defend ourselves and that the weapon isn't important because dead is dead. This man's mother, however, is quoted as saying, "If there was to be a death, it was not the place of the employee at Pizza Hut. That is the place of law enforcement,” so it sounds as though she's sorry that she won't be able to milk the system like the parents of Trayvon, et al. Like I said to Sandee, crime is the new entitlement.

Jan: No, you don't sound crazed at all. Crime rates are higher in cities with the strictest gun laws. Criminals are stupid, but they're not THAT stupid. Some legislators are THAT stupid.

This reminds me of what i was talking to someone about the other day, criminals who do not blame themselves for committing the crime, but blame the person who caught them.

Having been robbed at gunpoint in 1984 and still suffering PTSD, I can assure you robbery is not an innocent crime and maybe should get the death penalty. Let that mom stand with a gun pressed to her head and see how she feels.

Messymimi: No ethics, no integrity, no morals. Nothing but greed and stupidity.

Granny Annie: I can't imagine the horror of being robbed at gunpoint. Thank goodness you survived the ordeal. You're absolutely right that robbery isn't an innocent crime. The dead man's mother swears that he was desperate for money and would never have hurt anyone. Oh, really. Tell that to people who give up their valuables to a robber and then are shot anyway because they can identify them. Basically, there is no such thing as an innocent crime. Period.
